Wolf Radar operates at the intersection of a new era of security challenges and the existential need to secure European technological sovereignty.
To tackle this challenge, we are actively developing and deploying cutting‑edge radar and sensor systems that are resilient, high‑performance, and ready for mass production for use in defense.
We are seeking FPGA Engineers to join our team in Erlangen and help shape the next generation of advanced radar signal processing systems.
Your work will directly contribute to our mission to protect what matters most: human lives, critical assets, and the integrity of democratic societies.
Your Core Mission
As an FPGA Engineer at Wolf Radar, you will design, implement, test, and optimize FPGA‑based processing pipelines that power our advanced defense radar systems. You will work on high‑throughput architectures for real‑time signal processing, data acquisition, and low‑latency computation.
Your responsibilities include:
- Architecting and implementing FPGA SoMs for radar signal processing (e.g., filtering, beamforming, FFT pipelines, object detection pre‑processing).
- Translating complex system requirements into efficient, reliable VHDL/Verilog designs.
- Collaborating closely with System Engineering, AI/ML teams, and Embedded Software to build fully integrated radar solutions.
- Ensuring robustness, performance, and security in mission‑critical real‑time environments.
- Supporting hardware bring‑up, integration testing, and optimization on modern FPGA platforms.
- Staying ahead of the curve on emerging FPGA technologies, toolchains, and hardware accelerators.
Your Profile (Soft Skills & Mindset)
- Academic Excellence: You hold a Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a comparable STEM field.
- Analytical Strength: You excel at breaking down complex, unstructured engineering challenges into clear architectural designs.
- Collaboration: You are a proactive, hands‑on team player who enjoys working in interdisciplinary hardware, software, and algorithm teams.
- Communication: You communicate clearly and effectively in English (written and spoken; German is a plus).
- Quality Commitment: You care deeply about reliability, testing, and high‑performance hardware design.
Your Technical Background
- VHDL or Verilog development for modern FPGA families.
- Digital signal processing fundamentals (filters, FFTs, pipelined architectures, high‑throughput computation).
- Hardware verification, simulation, and debugging tools (ModelSim, Vivado, Questa, etc.).
- Integration of FPGA designs with embedded systems (ARM, SoCs, high‑speed interfaces).
- Understanding of high‑speed communication protocols (e.g., AXI, JESD204, PCIe, Ethernet).
Helpful (but not required)
- Experience with radar, RF systems, software‑defined radio, or other real‑time sensor systems.
- Familiarity with C/C++, Python, or MATLAB for testing and validation.
- Exposure to safety‑critical or defense‑grade hardware design.
What We Offer
- Pioneering Technology: Work on mission‑critical FPGA architectures powering next‑generation radar systems.
- Real Impact: High responsibility and the chance to see your designs deployed rapidly in real‑world systems.
- Culture & Team: A young, ambitious, and highly technical engineering environment with flat hierarchies.
- Attractive Total Package
