Freelance k6 Test Automation Engineer (Grafana)

We are currently supporting a leading financial services broker undergoing a major IT scaling and infrastructure transformation programme. As part of this initiative, we are looking for an experienced k6 Test Automation Engineer to drive performance and load testing across critical systems.

• Start: 2nd week of April 2026
• Workload: 2–3 days per week
• Location: Primarily remote, with occasional on-site work in Frankfurt am Main or Wiesbaden

Role Overview

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing performance and load testing strategies to support system scalability as the organisation grows. The role involves close collaboration with DevOps, backend, and QA teams to identify bottlenecks and optimise system performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute test strategies including load, stress, spike, and soak testing
• Prepare and manage test data and environments
• Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI)
• Execute test runs and analyse results (latency, throughput, error rates)
• Identify performance bottlenecks and provide optimisation recommendations
• Build and maintain Grafana dashboards for performance monitoring
• Document test scenarios, methodologies, and results
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (DevOps, QA, Engineering)

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with k6 for performance and load testing
• Experience with API testing (REST, WebSockets)
• Proven experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with Grafana and observability/monitoring tools
• Solid understanding of performance testing methodologies and best practices
• Experience with Docker and Git-based workflows
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance metrics
