Contract Type: Freelance / Project-based

Duration: 6–12 months

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior BESS Engineer to lead the design, integration, and commissioning of a Battery Energy Storage System connected to a large‑scale PV park in Bavaria. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring successful delivery of the project while managing a small engineering team and coordinating with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

Lead the design and engineering of the BESS system, including electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams, and integration with the PV park.
Perform system sizing, energy modeling, and grid compliance studies .
Oversee commissioning and testing of the BESS and ensure seamless integration with PV and grid infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with German grid codes, safety standards, and renewable energy regulations .

Leadership Responsibilities

Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.
Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and project stakeholders.
Drive project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Act as the primary technical point of contact for the client and regulatory bodies.

Required Skills & Experience

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
5+ years experience in BESS projects, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
Strong knowledge of PV‑BESS integration , grid interconnection, and energy storage technologies.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, PSCAD, or similar tools .
Fluent in English ; German language skills are a strong advantage.
