Functional Safety Engineer (m/f/d)

Your tasks

• Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and other safety standards (ISO 21448, etc.)
• Support safety activities in various domains, including operational, mechanical, and HV (high voltage) safety
• Conduct hazard analyses and risk assessments to identify safety risks in the development process
• Develop and drive the implementation of effective safety measures
• Define functional and technical safety requirements and concepts
• Lead and perform safety analysis using methods such as FTA, FMEA, DFA, and STPA
• Drive safety-related architectural updates, including designing redundancies and fail-operational systems
• Provide training to engineers and domain experts on safety principles, analysis methods, and processes
• Establish, refine, and enforce safety processes and procedures within the development lifecycle
• Guide and oversee verification and validation (V&V) activities in alignment with ISO 26262
• Serve as the primary interface with suppliers for safety-critical components, ensuring compliance with safety standards

Your profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience in applying ISO 26262, ISO 21448, and related safety standards and regulations
• Expertise in applying ISO 26262 in the T&B (Testing & Benchmarking) domain and experience with automotive systems engineering
• Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in both qualitative and quantitative safety analyses for complex systems
• Extensive experience with safety-related validation and verification (V&V) in an automotive environment
• Familiarity with common autonomous vehicle (AV) technologies and fail-operational redundancy strategies
