Within the Simulation domain, the Future Capabilities team in Manching is shaping the future of Engineering and Training Simulators, preparing the root for the development of future platforms quickly and modernly. Our teams provide cutting‑edge solutions to new programmes and support the development of projects from concept to production. As a Future Capabilities Virtualization Engineer (d/f/m) you will be responsible for the lifecycle (provisioning, deployment, and orchestration) of our simulation assets while using cutting‑edge virtualization technologies to scale our training portfolio.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly‑representative and modular hosting solutions for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) subsystem simulations and payload software, using C++ language and modern software architecture patterns.
• Apply DevOps and Test‑Driven Development principles and tools.
• Document and communicate virtual hardware emulations architectures, interfaces, and operational procedures for maintainability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate system software, middleware, and mission planning applications.
• Deploy, integrate, and qualify simulation models in system development and testing environments.
• Integrate third‑party libraries and APIs for enhanced simulation fidelity and functionality.
• Analyze and fix reported issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the team.

Skills And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering – preferred.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in software development.
• Very good knowledge of modern C++ and object‑oriented programming principles.
• Very good knowledge of a scripting language (Python, Bash, Golang).
• Very good knowledge of Linux environments and Ansible or similar configuration and deployment tools.
• Experience with virtualization and container orchestration technologies.
• Familiarity with CMake, Conan, Git and Docker.
• Professional level English; German is a plus.
• Knowledge of UAS concepts, hardware interfaces, flight dynamics, and standards is a plus.
• Proven experience with flight simulators and integration is a plus.
