For a globally operating, science-driven organization in the life sciences sector , we are currently looking for an experienced Global HR Business Partner to support senior leaders in a complex, international environment. This is an initial 9 months contract, ideally starting with options for extension.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of labor law, leadership consulting, talent management, and global HR strategy within a highly regulated and unionized setting.
Your Role & Impact
As a trusted HR partner, you will advise global leaders on all strategic and operational HR matters while ensuring compliance with German labor law, collective agreements, and global HR frameworks . You will actively shape organizational change, leadership development, and talent strategies in a global context.
Main responsibilities
Strategic HR & Leadership Advisory
- Advise global leaders on all HR matters, considering operational, global, tariff, and legal frameworks
- Provide expert guidance on complex individual and collective labor law topics and implement resulting measures
- Train and coach global leaders on HR and labor-law related topics (e.g. collective agreements)
- Support leaders in performance management, development plans, and corrective actions
Labor Law & Employee Relations
- Review and legally assess employee misconduct; define and implement disciplinary measures (e.g. warnings, terminations)
- Act as employer representative in labor court proceedings in cooperation with external legal counsel
- Ensure proper information, involvement, and negotiation with employee representatives (e.g. Works Council)
- Develop and implement HR actions based on current labor-law jurisprudence
Talent Management & Workforce Planning
- Advise leaders on compensation, promotions, and salary decisions in line with tariff and internal regulations
- Consult on recruitment strategies in cooperation with Talent Acquisition
- Develop recruitment concepts (e.g. trainees, external workforce) and manage external providers
- Build and steer a global talent pool , including development plans and succession pipelines
- Drive talent retention through targeted development measures (workshops, trainings, talent reviews)
Change Management & Organizational Development
- Design and implement HR concepts for global reorganizations and transformations
- Coordinate implementation of HR measures together with HR Shared Services
- Advise global leaders on German labor-law implications during restructurings
- Lead complex global HR projects and partial initiatives, including budget and timeline ownership
Global HR Programs & Processes
- Implement and further develop global HR programs such as:
- Performance and goal-setting processes
- Annual compensation and salary review cycles
- Contribute to the design and optimization of global HR processes and works agreements
- Prepare HR data and insights to support data-driven decision-making and HR strategy
- Act as key HR contact for HR Operations and Centers of Expertise (COEs)
- Collaborate closely with local and global HR Business Partners across functions and regions
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner in a complex, global, and regulated environment
- Strong expertise in German labor law, collective agreements, and employee relations
- Experience working with Works Councils and external labor-law attorneys
- Solid background in talent management, organizational development, and change management
- Confident advisor to senior leaders in international settings
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented working style
- Strong communication skills in German and English
- Comfortable leading global HR projects and managing multiple stakeholders
