The Basics
Location: Hamburg, IA
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience
Days/Hours: This job will be primarily day shift, but you will have Team Members working at various hours throughout the day for whom you will be responsible. You can expect to work off hours periodically, including weekends.
Equipment Used: Various grain handling equipment, including legs, conveyors, cleaners, baggers and color sorters.
Material Handled: Bulk commodities: corn and soybeans

What you’ll be doing:
The Assistant Superintendent/Cleaning Plant Manager is responsible for providing training, support and assistance to hourly team members. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary workplace in compliance with Company policies and applicable regulations.
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Commitment to team member safety, regulatory compliance and adherence to Company policies and procedures.
- Loading, unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, drying, storage, aeration and fumigation of grain.
- Supervise and manage all personnel and operational activities.
- Manage the business plan according to pre-set objectives.
- Be familiar with all operations, systems, policies and procedures including, but not limited to:
- Weighing or measuring materials and products and using scales or other measuring instruments in order to verify specified tonnages
- Manipulating controls, levers, and valves to start pumps, auxiliary equipment, or conveyors, and to adjust equipment positions, speeds, timing, and material flows
- Recording and tracking data such as weights, types, quantities, and storage locations of materials, as well as equipment performance problems and downtime
- Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, and work stations, using hand tools, shovels, brooms, chemicals, hoses, and lubricants
- Observing conveyor operations and monitor lights, dials, and gauges, in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect equipment malfunctions.
- Observe and monitor grain quality to ensure that product quality does not deteriorate.
- Oversee and monitor preventative maintenance protocols and elevator operations.
- Effectively communicate tasks, directives and policies with both senior management and supervised team members.
- Work with the location origination team to ensure the efficient throughput of grain and maximizing storage capabilities.
- Be familiar or become familiar with all applicable food safety standards and requirements.
Requirements to be successful in this position:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year plus experience working in grain handling facility or similar
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Ag Mechanics, Ag Business or similar is preferred
- For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English
- Available to work overtime and weekends
- Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications)
- Able to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to effectively operate computers and various software programs

- This job can be physically strenuous
- You will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces
- You will work at heights
- You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more
- This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders
- You will be required to wear PPE
