Hardware Electronics Engineer - Sensors / Automotive

We are working with one of Germany's top automotive sensor development groups who are looking for a Hardware Electronics Engineer to join their team.

This would be a hybrid position, 3 days per week onsite in Reutlingen, reporting to the Director of Product Development/Application Team Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

Development

Contribute to new product introduction (NPI) and application development projects.
Collaborate with firmware, software, and systems engineering teams.
Design and adapt hardware for new applications.
Develop circuits, PCB layouts, and 3D models for internal setups, demos, and early samples.
Provide custom hardware solutions: demo kits, prototypes, and customer samples.
Coordinate with external development partners.
Execute hardware testing and validation.
Support production line setups for components and modules.

Production & Quality

Maintain and enhance existing automotive hardware.
Work with quality and operations teams on continuous improvement and customer issue resolution.
Contribute to root cause analysis and define hardware improvements.

Key Qualifications:

B.Sc./M.Sc. in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Strong practical skills and a hands-on mindset.
Proficient in circuit design and PCB layout (Altium, Eagle, KiCad).
Experience with 3D CAD tools (Fusion 360, SolidWorks).
Background in automotive hardware development.
Familiarity with Automotive SPICE, functional safety, or ASIL is a plus.
Understanding of communication protocols (LIN, I2C, SPI, CAN, Serial).
Software/firmware knowledge is advantageous.
Strong communication skills in English; German proficiency preferred for partner interaction.
