Head of Electrical Safety & Compliance (GVEFK) (m/f/d)

About the Role

As Head of Electrical Safety & Compliance (GVEFK), you are the senior authorizing authority for electrical safety across all Digital Realty operational sites. You define, validate, and enforce compliant execution of electrical works in close collaboration with local Responsible Electrical Engineers (VEFK) and the Design, Engineering & Construction teams. You hold full authority to approve, reject, or stop electrical works that do not meet legal or safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for electrical safety and compliance of all high- and low-voltage electrical installations in data center environments in accordance with DIN VDE .
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards including VDE, DIN, DGUV, ArbSchG, BetrSichV, and TRBS.
• Define electrical safety policies, frameworks, and authorization processes across all sites.
• Inspect, monitor, and supervise electrical works performed by internal teams and external contractors.
• Conduct electrical risk assessments in high-availability environments and implement mitigation measures.
• Authorize, approve, or stop electrical installations and works that do not meet required safety standards.
• Collaborate with operations, construction, and country management to ensure continuous compliance and operational safety.

Your Profile

• Certified Elektrofachkraft with officially recognized Verantwortliche Elektrofachkraft (VEFK) qualification in accordance with DIN VDE .
• Extensive experience with electrical systems in mission-critical or high-availability environments, preferably data centers.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations and standards (VDE, DIN, DGUV).
• Proven ability to assess risks, enforce safety requirements, and lead contractors and internal teams.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills with a structured, proactive working style.
• Fluent in English and German.
