Role Overview
As Head of Independent Financial Advisors (IFA), you carry full entrepreneurial responsibility for the entire IFA distribution channel. You own revenue, recurring income growth, adviser experience, strategic partnerships, and overall market positioning.
This leadership role blends strategic business-line ownership, multi-channel go‑to‑market execution, and hands‑on relationship management. As a member of the Group Executive Board, you co‑shape group‑wide strategy while scaling one of Etops’ most important distribution channels.
Key Responsibilities
Full Ownership of the IFA Channel
- Deliver ambitious annual and multi‑year ARR, revenue and contribution margin targets.
- Develop and execute the 3‑year strategic plan and annual budget for the IFA segment.
- Shape and refine value proposition, pricing, service model, rebate structures, and commercial policy for IFAs.
- Position Etops as the preferred partner for top‑tier IFAs.
- Build and execute a multi‑channel distribution strategy across adviser ecosystems.
- Lead, coach, and scale a high‑performing IFA sales and client success team.
- Set quotas, compensation structures, and recognition programs.
- Personally own relationships with the most important IFA firms and platforms.
- Collaborate with Product Management to define and prioritize IFA‑relevant platform capabilities.
Marketing, Events & Thought Leadership
- Own the IFA marketing calendar and budget including events, webinars, digital campaigns and awards.
- Position Etops as a thought leader within the independent advice market.
Group Executive Board Contribution Executive Board
- Represent the IFA channel in Group Executive Board strategic discussions.
- Collaborate with the Heads of Asset Management and Wealth Management to drive synergy.
Regulatory, Risk & Process Discipline
- Role‑model sales process discipline, CRM standards, and forecasting accuracy.
- Ensure alignment with group‑wide methodology in partnership with Sales Operations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 12–20 years of relevant professional experience in wealth or asset management, with a clear and sustained focus on the Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) market , ideally in senior sales, platform, or business‑line leadership roles.
- Demonstrated P&L responsibility for an IFA‑focused business model (preferably ≥ EUR 1m in revenue), including pricing logic, margin management, revenue‑sharing models, and recurring income streams.
- Deeply embedded personal network within the IFA ecosystem (independent advisors, advisory firms, platforms, family offices, associations).
- Strong understanding of the economic and operational realities of IFAs , including advisory workflows, client acquisition models, regulatory constraints, scalability levers, and technology requirements.
- Proven track record in building, leading, and internationalising IFA sales and client success teams , including the management of distributed, entrepreneurial sales organisations.
- In‑depth market knowledge of IFA platform models, custodian setups, digital wealth management processes, and MiFID II regulations , and their implications for independent advisory businesses.
- High level of closing and negotiation capability, with the credibility to engage owners, partners, and senior decision‑makers of independent advisory firms on equal footing.
- Strategic capability to position a technology and services provider as the preferred long‑term partner for IFAs , encompassing value proposition, pricing, service, and partnership models.
- University degree required; Master’s or MBA preferred. CFA, CIIA, CFP, or comparable IFA‑relevant certifications are an advantage.
- Fluency in German and English required; additional European languages are a plus.
