Head of Research And Development

Velocity Tech has partnered with an exciting Tech company that is looking for a Head of Research to join their team.

This role is remote, with some expectation of travel for company gatherings and team building events.

• Strong grounding in core principles (via formal study or equivalent experience)
• Solid mathematical background (linear algebra, calculus/optimization, Bayesian statistics, etc.)
• Strong computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, etc.)
• Proficiency with key ML tools (PyTorch, scikit-learn, NumPy, etc.)
• Proven experience leading research or data science teams
• Excellent project management skills (planning, prioritization, execution)
• Clear and effective communication skills in English (written and spoken)

• Hands-on experience with data engineering, big data infrastructure, or MLOps
• Hands-on experience with differential privacy
• Hands-on experience with AWS technologies
• Background in startups or high-growth tech environments
• Prior work in cybersecurity, fraud detection, or finance-related ML applications
