Head of Unit (all genders) – Engineering Leadership (Cloud & Operations)

To further strengthen and modernize a central platform landscape, the company is looking for an experienced engineering leader who combines technical depth with strategic thinking. Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of architects and DevOps engineers in an international setup
• Ensure stable, secure, and efficient operation of highly available cloud-based platforms
• Drive the modernization and strategic evolution of the platform landscape, including target architecture and roadmap
• Design and build next-generation platform solutions in collaboration with international partners
• Take cross-functional responsibility for technical specifications, IT architecture, and IT operations
• Coordinate and manage external development and delivery partners
• Act as a key interface between technology, management, and external stakeholders
• Actively shape operational models, automation standards, and security concepts
• Drive change initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement

Must-have

• Proven experience in developing and operating business-critical, highly available applications in the cloud
• Leadership experience in teams working with Java and cloud-based technologies
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Cloud platforms (preferably Azure or GCP), Java / Spring Boot, and IT Security
• Ability to manage and align diverse stakeholder groups at management level
• Excellent communication skills in English
• High level of resilience, adaptability, and comfort working in international environments
• A proactive, influential mindset with a strong interest in shaping future operational models

Nice-to-have

• Experience with parts of the following technology stack: Web APIs, C#, SQL Server, Angular
• Background in platform modernization, cloud transformation, or legacy system evolution
• Experience working with nearshore/offshore delivery teams
• Familiarity with regulated or sensitive system environments
