HV Engineer / Grid Connection Consultant (m/f/d)

We are a medium-sized family business with 500 employees at 7 locations in Germany and 2 abroad. As an engineering and consulting services provider, we are active worldwide in projects that drive forward the energy transition, promote environmental protection and contribute to improving the quality of life for all of us. The position is based in the Electrical Engineering / Power Transmission & Distribution department, which consists of around 15 employees.

Tasks

• Lead on project grid connection scope, including liaison with relevant project stakeholder
• PPA and plant technical limits review
• Provide technical engineering support at all stages of the project development cycle
• Prepare, check and approve technical reports
• Prepare, review and evaluate EPC and IPP tenders
• Review project designs including FEED and detailed design level
• Manage work packages as well as complete projects, if desired
• Provide support for proposal preparation
• Liaise and communicate effectively with team, clients and stakeholders

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on electrical power engineering
• Min. 5 years relevant professional experience
• Relevant experience in high voltage and extra high voltage systems, e.g. Substations (GIS/AIS), Protection and Metering, Overhead Lines, Underground Cables
• Experience in the following fields would be of benefit: Grid connection of renewable energy plants including knowledge of connection process and permitting requirements; Energy supply systems in large scale industrial plants, from specification to acceptance, from concept design to detail design; Power to Gas, pump and compressor stations for gas, hydrogen, water and oil; large scale drives including variable speed drive systems
• You are fluent in English and German
• Previous experience of working in a consulting environment would be a benefit
• You are used to working flexibly, independently and reliably in a team
• You focus on quality and ensuring excellence of deliverables for both project reports and proposals
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in particular considering email correspondence, technical report writing and presentations
• You are able to work in a fast‑paced environment, often working on multiple projects at any one time
• The ideal candidate will be comfortable with travelling internationally for meetings or presentations
