PRESENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION

The International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI, is a global network of national public health institutes (NPHIs). IANPHI is an international non-profit association under Belgian law which currently comprises 128 member institutions in 107 countries. Its mission is to strengthen global public health capacities by connecting NPHIs across the world. IANPHI is an inclusive and independent professional association, which promotes an evidence-based approach to public health and strives for scientific excellence.

The Association is governed by the General Assembly. The affairs of the Association are conducted by the General Assembly, the Executive Board, and a Secretary General. Its organizational structure includes four Regional Networks (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America/Caribbean), currently five Thematic Committees, and a network of institutional focal points. The IANPHI Secretariat, led by the Secretary General, provides support to the Association’s activities and its Members.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Mission: Accountable to the IANPHI Secretary General, the Coordinator for Committees and Networks is responsible for supporting the activities of IANPHI’s Thematic Committees and Networks. The postholder will work closely with the Secretariat team, particularly with the Director of Programmes and Partnerships, to ensure that the activities of the Committees and the Focal Point Network support the implementation of the Association’s strategic goals and to support the governance, proper functioning, and development of the organization.

Tasks and responsibilities

Activities related to the Thematic Committees and Networks:

  • Coordinate the activities of the Thematic Committees and of the Focal Point Network, including supporting Chairs and Vice-Chairs in developing annual work plans, implementing, and monitoring activities.
  • Perform functions such as membership management, organizing online meetings, writing minutes and reports, standardizing processes, and liaising with communications and events teams for in-person, hybrid, or virtual events.

Support activities of IANPHI Regional Networks and contribute to establishing regional coordinator positions.

Support activities of the IANPHI Secretariat and its development:

  • Identify new partners and consolidate existing partnerships.
  • Assist in identifying funding sources and contribute to funding applications and project management.
  • Support monitoring of progress for the Strategy Action Plans by contributing to annual reports.
  • Assist in the Secretariat’s financial and human resources management.
  • Contribute to planning, implementing, and following up on IANPHI Annual Meetings.

The responsibilities may evolve with organizational needs, requiring flexibility and a proactive approach.

PROFILE

Education level: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public health, a health-related profession, or international relations.

Experience: Proven experience in coordinating international activities/networks or similar, with a demonstrated interest in global/public health. Desirable: experience in project management/strategic planning.

Languages: Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of German is an asset.

Skills: Excellent communication skills, experience in international/intercultural contexts, knowledge of public health organizations is a plus.

IT skills: Proficiency with MS Office, Teams, SharePoint, survey tools, Canva, etc.

Social skills: Teamwork, autonomy, initiative, ability to handle pressure, attention to detail, adaptability.

Salaire

Eligibility to work in Germany required. Open-ended contract, starting ASAP. 39 hours/week. Salary aligned with German public service wage agreement (TVÖD), up to Level 13 depending on experience. 30 days paid leave/year. Hybrid work: up to 3 days home office/week, 2 days at Berlin office. International travel required.
