What you'll do

  • Using Ignition, you will design, develop and maintain innovative MES solutions, focusing on production tracking, scheduling, energy management and reporting.
  • The role involves working alongside cross‑functional teams to configure and manage data historians, ensuring the seamless collection, storage and analysis of industrial data.
  • You will also develop and optimise SQL and time‑series databases to ensure secure, high‑performance data storage for MES and historian systems.
  • The role involves working closely with automation engineers to integrate MES with PLCs, utilising PLC programming expertise to troubleshoot and enhance connectivity.
  • As a key link between IT and OT teams, you will drive the integration of MES and related systems, including ERP connections, ensuring it is secure and scalable.

Who you are

  • Your degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related subject provides you with a strong academic foundation for the role.
  • Extensive experience in MES development and support has been gained and proven expertise has been demonstrated, particularly in working with Ignition by Inductive Automation and historian systems.
  • You are proficient in Ignition MES modules, SQL, time‑series databases and data historians (e.g. OSIsoft PI and Canary Labs), as well as PLC programming.
  • Certifications such as Ignition Core, Gold Certification and SQL certifications demonstrate a commitment to professional development.
  • You are known for your problem‑solving abilities, analytical mindset and you excel in project management, with fluency in English being a key skill for you, with additional language skills (e.g. German) being a valuable asset.
