Innovation Scientist Aerogel (m/w/d)

To strengthen our Global Innovation department, we are looking for a committed person to join our European headquarters in Münster/Germany at the next possible date. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of innovation activities in the area of aerogel technology. This includes the development of aerogel products and solutions as well as optimization of our aerogel manufacturing technology.

Your tasks

Lead research and development activities in aerogel technology, from ideation to scale-up and application development
Identify innovation opportunities to secure our innovations pipeline
Develop and implement new methodologies and testing procedures to support product development
Support commercial scale-up and intercompany transfer of innovative technologies
Prepare and present results internally and externally, including conferences and trade shows; maintain documentation and databases
Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development cycle
Coordinate external partnerships and manage projects with external laboratories and internal testing units
Contribute to intellectual property protection and knowledge management
Support our innovative activities at our aerogel manufacturing locations worldwide

Your profile

Master’s degree, preferably PhD, in aerogel chemistry or material science and technology in relation to aerogel materials
At least 2 years of professional experience in a similar position, ideally in the area of thermal insulation materials, with focus on aerogel chemistry or drying techniques
Practical knowledge of aerogel production processes, handling of aerogel materials and characterization methods for aerogels (porosity analysis, thermal conductivity, mechanical property)
Experience in scaling lab results to pilot production would be advantageous
Experience in project work and management as well as intellectual property protection and knowledge management would be an advantage
Hands-on experience in product development, installation, testing, and application development
Independent, responsible, and methodical approach to work
Excellent communication and presentation skills; fluent in English; Hindi is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; team-oriented, resilient, and methodical
Willingness to travel globally up to 40%, especially to China and India
