Roots of Impact is the expert and enabler for Impact-Linked Finance. As a pioneer in this field, we believe in aligning capital with incentives to drive change for people and the planet. We are based in Frankfurt (Germany), with hubs in Berlin and Cape Town (South Africa) but are open to exploring remote work options within a similar time zone.

The Impact Intelligence & Education Team:

The Impact Intelligence & Education team is Roots of Impact's champion of ensuring that impact additionality is embedded in Impact-Linked Finance transactions. The team also builds the pipeline for Impact-Linked Finance by driving educational programs for Enterprise Support Organizations and impact entrepreneurs, leveraging deep insights and hands-on experience from managing programs. The main responsibilities of the team include:

• Managing the implementation of the Scaling Impact Enterprises of Bangladesh (Biniyog Briddhi Program) and the new Ready for ILF Germany program.
• Driving Impact Measurement & Management (IMM) best-practice across ILF transactions (including product development, advisory and research).
• Managing the Social Finance Academy, which empowers Enterprise Support Organizations and impact entrepreneurs with the strategic tools and expertise needed to unlock financing opportunities through Impact Measurement & Management.

We're looking for a resourceful, independent, proactive candidate with a passion for educating impact entrepreneurs and expanding the Impact-Linked Finance field in Germany

Your opportunity:

As the Intern of the Impact Intelligence & Education team, you will play a pivotal role in building the field of Impact-Linked Finance in Germany. You will do this by contributing to the development of a knowledge platform and support in building an AI-driven assessment tool to empower entrepreneurs to prepare for Impact-Linked Finance transactions. Some of your tasks will be:

• Contributing to the development of a knowledge platform to provide social entrepreneurs with the relevant resources and training to develop an impact management and measurement system and prepare for ILF transactions
• Provide liaison and research support on developing knowledge products on Impact-linked Finance
• Support in research, ideation and building an (non-code) AI-driven assessment tool to empower entrepreneurs to assess ILF-readiness
• Supporting the implementation of program management related activities for the Ready for ILF Germany program, such as monitoring and evaluation, support in event management such as networking events and bootcamps

Could this be you?

What you should bring:

• You are pursuing a master's degree or are in the final years of a bachelor's degree in economics, finance, business, project management or similar
• You are looking for a mandatory internship (Pflichtpraktikum) linked to your study programme for at least one semester (5+ months)
• You are excited about Impact-Linked Finance, impact entrepreneurship and impact investing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German
• You have strong analytical skills, are a proactive problem-solver and able to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment
• Curiosity, drive, and confidence in working in a diverse, largely remote context and team
• Excellent user of Excel

A plus would be:

• Interest and awareness about the startups and impact investing in Germany
• Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
• Familiarity with integrating AI into product development
• Proficiency in German (spoken and written)
