Are you looking for an internship and want to get to know the work of a thermal analyst (d/f/m)? Then apply now We look forward to you supporting us in the Thermal Systems Germany Team as an intern (d/f/m)
The thermal design of spacecraft and their components are based on temperature predictions for agreed configurations, environmental conditions and operational states, the so-called design cases. For this purpose, Geometric Mathematical Models (GMM) and Thermal Mathematical Models (TMM) are created and the resulting thermal balance equations are solved, typically with the dedicated analysis tools SYSTEMA, ESATAN or Thermal Desktop.
Within the Space Environment domain several topics are addressed. In particular subjects tightly linked with space sustainability are currently seeing an increased demand for analyses. One such topic is re-entry analyses, to predict the fragmentation of a spacecraft during destructive re-entry after end of life and subsequently quantifying ground casualty risk caused by fragments reaching ground. The second hot topic is the protection of spacecraft against micrometeorites and orbital debris. Vulnerability of critical components and their probability of failure are calculated.
At the Airbus site in Friedrichshafen you will be working on innovation where others spend their holidays. Enjoy panoramic views of Lake Constance while having lunch in our canteen. And after work, join one of our many corporate sports groups to go running, sailing or skiing.
The design, analysis and testing of earth observation, science or exploration missions, including components, instruments or complete systems, always results in exciting tasks for students.
Basic thermodynamic and programming knowledge (C++, Python, …) is helpful for working on the following example topics:
literature research
