What is Lotus Chess?

Lotus Chess is a Berlin-based learning platform focused on helping chess players improve their openings through personalized feedback and AI-powered insights.

Our unique training system uses real-world opening data from millions of games to surface the most instructive mistakes and teach you how to exploit them.

We've built a cross-platform mobile app used by chess enthusiasts to study smarter, train faster, and win more games — regardless of rating.

What is your role?

• Cross-Platform Development: Build and maintain our mobile apps with Flutter for both iOS and Android

• Backend Features: Design and scale features with Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Functions, Analytics)

• Cloud Infrastructure: Work with AWS services such as Cognito, Lambda, and S3 to power scalable backend logic and sync

• Analytics & Insights: Integrate custom telemetry and analytics to understand user behavior and shape product decisions

• Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and data science to iterate on features and improve performance

• Code Quality: Maintain a high standard of code with CI/CD pipelines, tests, and documentation

What skills are we looking for?

• Experience with native iOS/Android development and Flutter

• Experience with Firebase backend tools (Firestore, Functions, Crashlytics, etc.)

• Experience with AWS services, especially Cognito, Lambda, S3, and Amplify

• Experience with release processes (App Store, Play Store, TestFlight, etc.)

• Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and mobile CI/CD (e.g., Fastlane, GitHub Actions)

• Comfortable with REST, and mobile deployment processes

• Bonus: interest or experience with data science, ML, or data-driven product design

Your education and experience

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in computer science, mathematics, or similar field

• Past experience shipping mobile apps (portfolio, GitHub, or app store links welcome)
