IT Security Specialist – Information Security Unit (m/f/d)

We are looking for a permanent (full-time) employee for our Information Security department to start on April 1, 2026.

MDCC Magdeburg‑City‑Com GmbH is the regional telecommunications provider in the state capital of Magdeburg and the surrounding regions. MDCC provides internet, telephone, and TV services to around 100,000 households. Over the past 28 years, MDCC has developed into an important commercial enterprise in Magdeburg. To strategically develop our security organization, we are creating a new “Information Security” department. This position is of central importance for the coordination and implementation of all security‑related issues within the company. The role involves setting up the department and independently organising the processing of measures. You will work closely with the specialist departments and support them in the implementation process.

Responsibilities

Setting up and independently coordinating the Information Security department
Analyzing and preparing legal requirements, standards, and external requirements for the company
Developing and maintaining guidelines, work instructions, and processes
Prioritising and managing security issues (major projects, ad‑hoc issues, backlog)
Identifying risks, needs, and deficiencies and deriving measures
Conducting and supporting audits and monitoring relevant systems
Preparing reports and communicating security‑related issues to various levels
Advising specialist areas and providing support in the implementation of security measures
Conducting training and awareness measures and providing support with IT risk analyses and IT emergency management
Strategic development of the security organisation and monitoring of trends and new requirements in the area of security

Qualifications

Degree in computer science, IT security, security management, or comparable qualification
At least 3 years of experience (operational and/or strategic) in IT security or IT infrastructure with a focus on security
In‑depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (IT‑SiG, NIS2, BSI, ISO 27001)
Good understanding of security tools, networks, operating systems, Active Directory, virtualization, cloud solutions
High degree of personal responsibility, assertiveness, and strong communication skills
Business fluent German and very good English skills
