Java Technical Lead

Role Overview

You’ll join as a Technical Lead , owning all technical and architectural decisions for the settlement & insurance domain, leading a product-led team building and evolving enterprise-grade systems at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical and architectural decisions within your domain
• Design, evolve, and modernise backend and frontend systems
• Lead a product-led team with autonomy over backlog and technical direction
• Balance long-term architecture health with short-term delivery needs
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners and other Technical Leads
• Guide and challenge engineers through design discussions and reviews
• Take responsibility for decisions, including resolving disagreements when needed

Qualifications

• 6+ years professional software engineering experience
• Proven experience owning technical or architectural decisions
• Strong Java background (Spring / Spring Boot)
• Experience building and maintaining complex, business-critical systems
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and SQL databases
• Ability to lead technical discussions and make clear trade-offs
• Hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving skills
• Fluent English (spoken and written)

Nice-to-have

• Experience with React and modern frontend frameworks
• Kafka or event-driven architecture experience
• Cloud experience (AWS preferred) or cloud migration exposure
• Experience working with legacy systems and modernisation initiatives
• Background in B2B SaaS, insurance, fintech, mobility, or logistics domains
