Our culture is highly purpose-driven, constantly delivering innovation, exceptional standards, execution. This is a high-performance environment. If you seek meaningful work at the intersection of technology and defense, this is the place for you. Those looking for the comfort of a standard role are discouraged from applying.

The Role: Junior Design Engineer

We are seeking a Junior Design Engineer to join our engineering team at our composites facility in Hamburg. This role is crucial to the design, development, and customization of structural aircraft components made of both metallic and composite materials. You’ll support the complete product lifecycle from feasibility studies to production-ready documentation. You will work with 2D and 3D design tools to develop and adapt component designs according to customer requirements, industry standards, and internal guidelines. Your focus will be on creating robust, certifiable, and manufacturable structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and modify aircraft components and structures
  • Plan and conduct feasibility studies
  • Create technical specifications in compliance with design rules, standards, and customer requirements
  • Perform 2D and 3D design tasks, including new developments and customizations
  • Create detailed manufacturing documentation and bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Review technical drawings and 3D models for accuracy
  • Design primary and secondary structures using metallic and composite materials

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, aircraft construction, or equivalent technical qualification with relevant experience
  • Experience in aerospace component design
  • Proficient in CATIA V5
  • Advantageous: experience with surface design and aviation-specific tools (e.g., VPM, 3DCOM, Taksy, Pass SSI, APS, PDMlink, etc.)
  • Analytical thinking and team-oriented working style
  • Basic project management knowledge
  • Good communication skills in German and English
  • Valid, unrestricted work permit for the EU (student visas are not accepted)

What We Offer

We believe to offer something different.
  • Strategic Impact: Shape critical operational processes and establish a legacy of excellence in a rapidly scaling organisation.
  • Prestige and Innovation: Work on high-stakes projects that define the future of aerospace, space, and defense.
  • Meritocratic Culture: Join an organisation where excellence, integrity, and results are the foundation of everything we do. We are proud of our unique team ethos, enabling and supporting each other and going the extra mile together.
  • Family-friendly flexible working hours
  • Opportunities for professional and personal development
  • On-site parking and good access to public transport
  • Subsidy for HVV-ProfiCard (public transport)

At BUOYANCY AEROSPACE, we are committed to a purely merit-based environment where performance, capability, and integrity are all that matter.
