(Junior) Financial Lines Underwriter

We are working on behalf of a growing firm seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Financial Lines Underwriter to support underwriting activities for the German market. A successful candidate will assist in the evaluation, pricing, and management of Financial Lines risks, including Directors & Officers (D&O), Professional Indemnity (PI), and Financial Institutions coverage. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical underwriting skills, build broker relationships, and gain exposure to complex commercial risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Support underwriting of Financial Lines business for the German market in line with company guidelines and risk appetite.
• Assist in risk assessment, pricing, and structuring of insurance solutions for new and renewal business.
• Review and analyse financial statements, company reports, and risk information.
• Prepare underwriting documentation, policy wordings, and endorsements.
• Collaborate with senior underwriters on complex risks and portfolio management.
• Maintain and develop relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to profitability targets.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Support market research, reporting, and administrative underwriting tasks.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in insurance, underwriting, financial services, or risk management (internships considered).
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Understanding of financial and corporate structures is an advantage.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Fluency in German and full proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Financial Lines products such as D&O, Professional Indemnity, or Cyber.
• Understanding of the German insurance market and regulatory environment.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
