Junior Java Developer (m/f/d)

The Opportunity

At Worldline, we design and operate leading digital payment and transactional solutions that enable sustainable economic growth and reinforce trust and security in our societies. As a Junior Developer, you will join the Open Banking Tribe at equensWorldline. The tribe is responsible for the strategic development of products and projects for cardless payment processing, including iDEAL in the Netherlands, Wero, bank‑supported identity checks (Verification of Payee), Open Banking APIs according to the PSD2 directive, and electronic direct debit mandates. The focus of our build‑to‑run projects is on the high availability and performance of our platforms.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

• You are part of an international delivery team (approximately 50 people) in the Open Banking tribe.
• You develop containerised applications based on current Java technologies and also client‑side GUI applications.
• You contribute to making our applications easily testable.
• You actively participate in all phases of a software development project using agile methods.
• You collaborate with operations and acceptance testers.
• Acquire knowledge and experience related to our current tech stack:
  • Java, JEE, REST Web Services, Angular, JPA
  • Docker, JBOSS, Quarkus
  • Micro‑services
  • Relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL
  • GIT version control, dependency track, SonarQube
  • Security: OWASP, PKCS11, OpenSSL, JSSE, OAuth2
  • GCP

• Degree in software engineering or equivalent education.
• First experience with Java solutions.
