Business Unit – Hospital & Specialty Therapies (HST)
The HST portfolio focuses on innovative solutions for patient care directly at the bedside, in ICUs and operating rooms. Key areas include:
- Frontline Care – Diagnosis & monitoring devices (e.g., ophthalmoscopes, otoscopes, blood pressure monitors)
- Patient Support Systems (PSS) – Smart care beds, mattresses and mobility solutions for efficient care processes
- Global Surgical Solutions (GSS) – Operating tables, lighting and supply units for optimal OR equipment
HST combines advanced medical technology with pragmatic solutions to support clinical staff and enhance patient safety. Our goal is to make hospitals more efficient, improve care quality and streamline workflows for nurses and medical personnel.
Role Overview
As GPO Manager – Healthcare you will lead strategic GPO management: you will oversee Group Purchasing Organizations, secure access to HST solutions in hospital networks and drive sustainable revenue growth through targeted contract and relationship management.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the GPO strategy for HST products.
- Identify and prioritize relevant GPOs in the DACH region.
- Steer existing partnerships and build new collaborations to secure availability of HST solutions in hospitals.
- Ensure market-appropriate positioning of HST products with GPO partners.
- Prepare and conduct contract negotiations with GPOs in collaboration with Legal, Pricing and Finance.
- Develop standard contract and reporting structures for HST-relevant agreements.
- Control offer processes in compliance with Baxter policies and compliance requirements.
- Analyze terms to assess economics and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate closely with Key Account Management, regional sales, marketing, and market access in the HST area.
- Work with Pricing, Controlling and Supply Chain to maintain consistent price and customer strategies.
- Inform and train internal stakeholders about GPO-relevant developments and regulatory requirements.
- Support cross-functional projects to optimize GPO management in the HST area.
- Conduct regular market and potential analyses in the HST GPO segment.
- Create forecasts, KPI reports and business reviews to support corporate steering.
- Assess contract performance and derive strategic actions.
- Ensure transparent and comprehensive reporting in line with Baxter standards.
- Comply with all relevant regulatory, legal and compliance requirements.
- Observe market trends, health-economic conditions and competitor activity.
- Support audits and continuously improve processes.
Qualifications
- Completed studies in business administration, health economics, medical technology or comparable qualification.
- Multi-year experience in healthcare, ideally in sales, key account management, purchasing or market access.
- Funded knowledge of the GPO market, especially in hospital settings.
- Experience in contract and terms management is an advantage.
- Proficient with data analysis, KPIs and reporting tools.
- Analytical and strategic thinking.
- High initiative, structured work style and organisational strength.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in a complex stakeholder environment.
- Team orientation and cross-sector collaboration.
- Customer-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset.
