The Cluster of Excellence 3099 "GreenRobust” investigates the robustness mechanisms of various plant species at all levels of biological organisation in response to biotic and climatic disturbances. Within the cluster, various research teams from the Universities of Tübingen, Hohenheim and Heidelberg will collaborate. In this context, Heidelberg University is seeking to fill the following full-time (39,5 hours/week) position, limited to the duration of the cluster (until ), starting at the next possible date:Lab Manager for the single cell-seq lab (f/m/d)at the GreenRobust location HeidelbergTasks:Performing single cell combinatorial indexing (e.g. sci-RNA-seq, sci-ATAC-seq) experiments (no previous experience required)Molecular biology work (including RNA/DNA/protein extraction, PCR, electrophoresis)Tissue dissociations and sample preparation from different organismal material and predominantly plant materialProgramming and operation of automated liquid handling devicesAdvising and training of scientists and visitors in technologies and protocolsGeneral laboratory organization, such as: instrument maintenance, lab calendar, ordering, inventory, maintaining stocks and training members of collaborating labsEssential skills required:Advanced degree from accredited university or technical school or multiple years of experience in molecular biology or a related disciplineVery good practical experience and theoretical knowledge of cell and molecular biology methodsBasic molecular and biochemical lab skills (PCR, qPCR, basic microscopy)Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilitiesIndependent work ethic and desire to learn new methods and protocolsA willingness to learn basic computer programmingWork well with people from various culturesAbility to speak and write fluently in English and in GermanBasic software skills (word-processing, Excel, powerpoint/keynote, cloud storage)You might also have:Experience in standard genomics techniques (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, DNA-seq) and library preparationBackground working with plantsExperience in single cell genomics protocolsProgramming skills (R, Unix, Python, cluster computing)We offer:Varied and responsible tasks in a dynamic international environmentOpportunity for professional developmentVery friendly and collegial working atmosphereFlexible, family-friendly working time modelsWide range of university benefits (subsidized Deutschlandticket, university sports etc.)The position is remunerated according to TV-L.
