What you will do: Design and develop smart solutions for orthopedic and Trauma applicationsDrive design excellence and innovationCollaborate with cross-functional team to lead technical aspects of projects through the new product development processCreate detailed technical product specifications and assess functionality for compliance with design requirementsCoordinate/manage and oversee project efforts and risksLead technical aspects of program pipelineTrain and mentor (junior) engineers Key responsibilities include: Drive designs and the selection of platform technologiesCoordinate/manage the implementation of innovative and state-of-the-art technologiesWork independently with surgeon customers in a user setting, clearly communicate design goals, drive design decisions and incorporate feedback into designsUnderstand costumer needs and independently develop and establish complex design solutions including modeling, prototyping, technical specification, test planning and execution and design documentationPerform holistic problem analysis, design and implement solutions to address identified problemsSpecialize in various technology domains and evaluate new technologiesEstablish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in order to recognize and anticipate industry trends and user needsEnsure compliance with the relevant requirements in cooperation with other engineering disciplinesMaintain and improve engineering methods and practicesTrain and mentor regarding established engineering best practices, design principles, processes and toolsWork with cross-functional team to determine project schedules and time commitments of self and other team members and be able to clearly communicate status of assignments to project management What You will Need:  Required: Bachelor's degree in science, prefer Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, prefer Masters Degree in a technical discipline5+ years of product design experienceDemonstrated efficient leadership of technical work groupsExperience leading complex product development initiatives from concept through releaseExperience with a parametric CAD design package. Prefer ProEDemonstrated understanding of product design including technical calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), GD&T and its applicationDemonstrated ability to make decisions and influence a broad cross functional audienceDemonstrated ability to mentor and educate individuals or small groups as well as multiple project teams to ensure that best design practices and standards are met Preferred:  Experience in the regulated medical device industry or equivalent Experience in the clinical and performance requirements of orthopedic implants Diversity is important to us.
