Your Mission

Operational Risk Officer – German business. Lead and embed non‑financial risk management, support Group Risk Management in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and treating non‑financial risks across the German business. Build and maintain a culture of risk management excellence, uphold Bitpanda’s Enterprise Risk Management framework, and promote innovative ways to keep customers and company financial assets safe.

Bring strong analytical mindset, experience in operational risk management, passion for digital assets and related lifecycle processes, and desire to build out foundations for future finance. Oversee core business processes, challenge management to think differently about risk, and become a key advisor to business, product, technology and operations teams.

Report to the Group Head of Operational Risk; part of Bitpanda’s growing Group Risk Management Team.

What you’ll do

  • Champion the Non‑Financial Risk Framework – Drive adoption, set risk appetite, strengthen controls, deliver insightful reporting to senior management.
  • Be a Risk Influencer – Actively advise, oversee and challenge 1LOD and 2LOD stakeholders on non‑financial, financial, and liquidity risks, especially during strategic transformations in the German business.
  • Advise and Empower Decisions – Guide risk owners on assessment and treatment, leveraging data‑driven insights for informed, risk‑based decision‑making.
  • Act as Risk SME for Germany – Serve as the single point of contact for all risk matters, collaborating with Compliance, AFC, and Information Security to ensure cohesive oversight.
  • Enhance Control Assurance – Build and execute 2LOD monitoring and testing capabilities, ensuring robust control assurance, actionable insights and regulatory alignment (e.g., MaRisk, BaFin, DORA, MICAR).

Who you are

  • Seasoned Risk Professional – 7+ years in Operational and Non‑Financial Risk across financial services, with exposure to fast‑ Fintech and Digital Asset environments. Solid understanding across broad spectrum of non‑financial risk types (operations, compliance, financial crime, information security, technology, financial reporting).
  • Control & Assurance Expert – Skilled in planning, executing control monitoring, testing, and audit‑style reviews within complex financial institutions.
  • Regulatory & Market Insight – Deep understanding of MaRisk, BaFin and the full financial product lifecycle – from licensing to settlement – paired with strong market awareness.
  • Proactive & Impact‑Oriented – Self‑starter who thrives in dynamic settings, driving high‑impact, low‑friction risk management practices.
  • Digital Asset Advocate – Passionate about building a secure, compliant, and innovative digital asset ecosystem.
