The Opportunity

Join the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in a Teaching and Research role. As a Lecturer (Level B), you will have the opportunity to develop your scholarly research and professional activities both nationally and internationally, while contributing to the teaching and service missions of the School and Faculty. As a Senior Lecturer (Level C), in addition to the opportunities available to a Lecturer, you will establish an internationally recognised research program in your field and play a key role in maintaining and strengthening industry partnerships, fostering collaborations that drive impactful research and innovative advancements in thermo-mechanical engineering.

We are seeking a candidate with a proven research background and strong educational experience in advanced manufacturing engineering. The role focuses on, but is not limited to, areas such as modern manufacturing processes for advanced composites and metals, nano- and micro-fabrication, smart design for manufacturing, sustainable and green manufacturing, and robotic manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and research efforts in advanced manufacturing engineering.
  • Establish and maintain industry partnerships and collaborations.
  • Contribute to the development of teaching materials and delivery models (online and blended).
  • Develop and maintain an active research program with international recognition (Senior Lecturer).
  • Engage in service duties within the School and Faculty.

Qualifications

  • PhD in an area of direct relevance, including but not limited to Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, and Robotics Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability and track record in modern manufacturing processes, including advanced metals and composites, nano- and micro-fabrication, smart design for manufacturing, microelectronic systems, and robotic manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in translating research results into practical outcomes.
  • Demonstrated capacity for development of alternative delivery models for teaching (online and blended).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to network with a diverse range of students and staff.
  • Ability to work in a team and build cross-disciplinary relationships.
  • Willingness to undertake required UNSW health and safety training and compliance.
  • Understanding of UNSW aims, objectives, values, and policies.

Salary & Appointment Details

  • Lecturer – Level B: AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Senior Lecturer – Level C: AUD $155,403 to $178,290 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Full time
  • 2-Year Convertible Tenure Track
