About The Opportunity
We are hiring an IP & Data Privacy lawyer with hands‑on mentality to further strengthen our IP/Technology Law Team as part of our ‘Beyond Banking Law Team’. You will comprehensively support global product launches and marketing campaigns by ensuring alignment with unfair competition, copyright, trademark, consumer/eCommerce, and data privacy laws. You will also advise on privacy compliance for digital marketing technologies, and together with your manager, you will help shape and manage N26’s global IP strategy and portfolio.
In This Role, You Will
- Advising on N26 product launches from an unfair competition, copyright, trademark, consumer/eCommerce law, and data privacy law perspective, providing end‑to‑end legal support for new product developments and feature releases, including assessing naming strategies, reviewing UX/UI elements, ensuring fair presentation of product features, verifying compliance with digital consumer rights and eCommerce obligations, and conducting privacy assessments under the GDPR.
- Advising on global N26 marketing campaigns from the same legal perspectives, supporting the planning and execution of multi‑market marketing campaigns by reviewing campaign concepts, ad copy, creatives, and targeting strategies to ensure legal compliance across jurisdictions, verifying adherence to advertising standards under unfair competition and consumer protection laws, and ensuring lawful use of personal data in line with the GDPR.
- Advising on all privacy law matters related to Digital Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Tech – serving as subject‑matter expert for tracking technologies such as cookies and helping our Marketing and Product teams use these technologies in a compliant way; conducting privacy assessments for Digital Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Tech related initiatives; reviewing and negotiating data processing and joint controller agreements, setting up Records of Processing Activities, conducting Privacy Impact Assessments, and assessing data transfers to third countries.
- Implementing and developing N26’s IP strategy, managing and protecting N26’s global IP portfolio, including trademarks and other intangible assets.
- Developing and delivering internal training for Product & Marketing teams on IP and advertising law.
What You Need To Be Successful
- Thrilled to work in Europe’s first mobile bank with a full German banking licence and a commitment to FinTech innovation.
- Fully qualified German lawyer who has passed the first and second state law examinations with above‑average results, ideally supplemented by a LL.M. degree.
- 1–3 years of professional IP/Data Privacy law experience in Europe, in a reputable law firm or the legal team of a tech company.
- Excellent German and English skills, both written and oral.
- Hands‑on and eager to tackle new topics while demonstrating a quick grasp and experience in conceptual project work.
- Strong interpersonal skills, pragmatic thinking, a zest for action, and a sense of humour.
- Team player capable of working independently.
- Devoted, reliable, and capable of handling tasks under time pressure.
