Job Title: German as a Foreign Language Teacher (Primary)

We are seeking a German as a Foreign Language teacher for our Primary section to work alongside our existing subject specialist, accommodating significant growth. The successful candidate will share responsibilities for teaching German from KG (UK Year 1 / Germany Vorschule) to Grade 5 (UK Year 6). Founded as the German School of Bombay, the teaching of German is enshrined in our registration articles. Our strategic mission aims to increase students' proficiency for higher-level German exams and university studies in Germany.

Class sizes are small, with no more than 18 children per Primary class. This role involves teaching at both campuses, including providing instruction for a small number of mother tongue students and possibly one or two additional subjects in German.

Responsibilities

• Deliver German as a Foreign Language across grades KG to 6, collaborating with colleagues.
• Provide first-language German teaching for native speakers.
• Support language development through extracurricular activities.
• Plan and assess learning to ensure students reach at least A1 proficiency in German.

Additional Duties

• Contribute to child safeguarding and diversity policies.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and report writing.
• Engage in professional development and school activities.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid teaching certification
• At least two years of teaching experience
• Fluent spoken and written German (C1-C2)
• Fluent spoken English
