Stellenbeschreibung:
🌍 Remote (EU) | Senior Linux Kernel Driver Engineer | High Pay | Long-Term, Open Source Project
🧠 Work on the Cutting Edge of Open Source + SiliconWe’re looking for expert Linux kernel driver engineers to join a major open source silicon bring-up effort. This role is all about deep, hands-on experience developing Linux drivers — not just patching or maintenance, but full architectural development and upstream contributions for a brand-new, heterogeneous SoC platform.
Linux kernel driver development is the essential skill here — everything else (board bring-up, open source contributions, firmware, etc.) is a bonus. If you've written and debugged complex Linux drivers for real hardware — especially custom or high-performance peripherals — this is your opportunity to go deep, upstream your work, and influence the future of Linux on next-gen processor architectures.🛠️ What You’ll Be DoingWriting and upstreaming Linux kernel drivers for a next-gen SoC (Cortex-A, Cortex-R, Cortex-M + custom accelerators)Enabling high-speed peripherals: PCIe, USB 3.x, Ethernet, MIPI, CAN, and moreWorking with a Linux 6.x kernel fork: backports, custom feature integration, and security patchingCollaborating with silicon, firmware, and platform teams to support bring-up and validationContributing to or navigating upstream subsystems: networking, camera, memory, DMA, AI/ML, etc.
✅ Must-Have: Linux Kernel Driver ExpertiseProven experience writing Linux kernel drivers — ideally for complex, custom, or high-speed hardwareDeep understanding of kernel internals: I/O, interrupts, memory management, schedulingExperience working with both mainline and custom kernel treesStrong low-level Linux debugging skills (perf, ftrace, crash, kgdb, etc.)Familiarity with upstream Linux development and patch workflowsFluent English for technical communication in a remote environment
💡 Nice to Have (Bonus, Not Required)Contributions to mainline Linux or other open source projectsExperience with silicon bring-up or validationFamiliarity with Yocto, Buildroot, or embedded Linux ecosystemsKnowledge of IOMMUs, custom SoCs, or hardware accelerators
🚀 Why Join?Architect real Linux drivers for a brand-new processorUpstream-first development — no throwaway vendor hacksWork with bleeding-edge hardware and latest kernel releases (6.x)Long-term (2+ years), remote (EU), high-impact engineering roleCompensation well above €100k/year equivalent
🔧 This Role Is for You If:You’re a seasoned Linux engineer who thrives on low-level, driver-level work — and you care about doing it right: upstream, maintainable, and hardware-aware.
