Logo Designer – Branding

Role Description
This role is focused on designing a powerful and symbolic logo for an African American author’s autobiography. The logo should visually represent the author’s personal journey, reflecting resilience, ambition, and cultural heritage. It will feature elements such as a Harlem basketball court to symbolize roots and challenges, and a Ferrari (without branded insignia) to convey success and achievement. The logo must embody a strong, bold, and urban-inspired style that aligns with Harlem culture and resonates across print, digital, and merchandise applications.

Deliverables

• Design a unique and memorable author logo suitable for use on book covers, promotional materials, websites, branding, and merchandise.
• Incorporate symbolic elements including a worn-down basketball court and a Ferrari (without trademarks).
• Develop typography and color palettes that reflect Harlem culture and themes of resilience and ambition.
• Provide multiple initial design concepts for review and refinement.
• Deliver final logo files in multiple formats (AI, EPS, PDF, PNG, JPEG) for both print and digital use.
• Ensure scalability and versatility of the design for different applications and media.

Requirements

• Proven experience in professional logo design with a portfolio demonstrating bold, culturally inspired, and modern work.
• Strong skills in visual storytelling and symbolism through design.
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and other industry-standard design tools.
• Ability to create versatile designs that work across print, digital, and merchandise formats.
• Understanding of urban-inspired aesthetics and cultural heritage representation in branding.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating on feedback and revisions.
• Experience working on book-related or personal branding projects is a plus.
