Your role at a glance

A people management role in our NTT’s Global Tech Ops Team, you are the Electrical subject matter expert within your assigned geographical region and will be responsible for ensuring all of NTT’s electrical systems are operating correctly within their design and are optimised to ensure highest levels of efficiency and reliability. You will ensure all best practises and standards are delivered, and work with the Critical Facilities Management teams to ensure any issues are quickly resolved to minimise operational impact. As part of the role you will author and deploy a set of Electrical Safety Rules for use across NTT’s estate. You will use your excellent organisational and people leadership skills to ensure services are delivered to the highest standard.

What we are looking for

  • Lead the DACH Electrical Engineering team within our EMEA Engineering function in defining and implementing the NTT GDC EMEA Tech-Ops standards and to ensure that the electrical infrastructure is effectively tested, commissioned, maintained and optimised
  • Provide regular reporting internal and externally by attending regular meetings with the regional teams to discuss electrical systems performance and address any issues and concerns relating to systems condition, and operational activities and report accordingly
  • Develop realistic plans, set goals, align plans with Tech Ops objectives and co‑ordinate with other team members
  • Be overall technical authority for all of NTT’s datacentre supporting electrical infrastructure
  • Provide 2nd/3rd level escalation for electrical/controls issues
  • Provide SOP/EOP development including sign off of any electrical SOP/EOP drafts
  • Provide and oversight for approvals of MOP/SOP/EOP within the CAB process
  • Assist with the commissioning of existing upgrades and new builds; supporting electrical & mechanical elements where required
  • Continually optimise electrical systems to provide high levels of efficiency and reliability
  • Organise and develop training for CFM engineers/supervisors on any electrical systems adhoc or planned
  • Provide mitigation to remove (where possible) majority of "Human Error" aspects from all electrical operations, whether it be a physical optimisation to equipment, robust technical training, or clear procedure documentation
  • Provide technical input on all electrical works and projects
  • Optimise maintenance offerings to ensure all manufacturers and best practises are followed
  • Ensure technical excellence on all electrical systems and ensure all engineering best practices are being followed
  • Attend any necessary Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
  • Organise and witness Electrical Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
  • Collaborate with the Projects Department on facility Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
  • Input into commissioning test scripts for electrical elements for FATs, SATs and IST
  • Attend and contribute to post handover reviews/lessons learned and share findings with NTT GDC EMEA Tech Ops team as required
  • Take ownership of any key electrical issues and push progression, and as part of this, ensure ticketing system is up to date

Requirements

Professional skills

  • Extensive electrical engineering, maintenance and commissioning experience in Data Centre or other mission critical sector is essential
  • A proven track record of data centre electrical optimisation and efficiency improvements
  • You will have detailed technical knowledge of the type of large‑scale electrical systems installed at NTT’s facilities, including HV, LV, UPS, Standby power and related electrical systems, and BMS/EMS and controls systems, with a demonstrated understanding of various redundancy topologies of such infrastructure
  • You will have experience in leading a technical function within a mission critical environment and be very customer facing and focused
  • Previous experience as an HAVE - Be considered a subject matter expert in your field
  • Working knowledge of the Deming Cycle, e.g Plan Do Check Act - Awareness and experience of RCA frameworks and ability to complete them
  • You will have demonstrated an ability to work to short, medium and long‑term deadlines, as well as being able to react quickly and change priorities to meet demands
  • A good knowledge of regulatory compliance and health and safety within the data center environment
  • Recognised H&S qualifications
  • Proficient in English with a second language desirable
  • To be an expert in electrical engineering with a strong critical electrical capability
  • Have the ability to break down problems into smaller components, understand underlying issues, simplify, process complex issues and elevate when required
  • Zero downtime mentality and experience within these areas
  • You must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written with the ability to produce technical reports to a professional quality
  • Strong ability for technical analysis and problem solving, with great attention to detail
  • Excellent organisation with strong time management skills
  • Ability to maintain own continual professional development
  • An Engineering based Degree/MSc or equivalent experience/qualification is essential
  • Ambition to work in or previous experience of working in a fast paced, dynamic and growing technical environment
  • Possess a clean and valid driving licence
  • Undergo full security/background checks
