Job Summary
Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Quality and Environmental Manager for its Neckarbischofsheim plant, which develops and manufactures precision quartz crystals and oscillators for telecommunications, medical technology, and radar systems.
Role Description
The Quality and Environmental Manager reports to plant management and will develop and support the quality and environmental management system, drive continuous process improvement, and oversee product testing.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, manage, and further develop the quality management system.
- Plan internal audits to measure and ensure compliance with established management standards and business processes.
- Conduct internal audits of the management system according to applicable standards.
- Plan and lead external audits/assessments (third‑party and customer audits).
- Identify process risks using appropriate quality methods, risk assessment, and define and track actions.
- Drive related process improvements in methodology, test conditions, and error analysis.
- Act as an interface to other functions within the organization.
- Support the environmental management system.
- Technical error analysis and customer 8D reports.
- Support reliability test program.
- Manage and develop quality requirements and related quality tools (CAQ).
- Plan, prepare, and conduct management reviews.
- Evaluate quality and environmental data for the management report.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven professional experience in the development and maintenance of quality and environmental management systems based on standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, preferably ISO 14001, MIL/AS/EN 9011, with 3–5 years in similar industrial management systems.
- Proven experience in leading various quality functions and teams.
- Advanced knowledge of quality and statistical tools (SPC).
- Good knowledge of Visual Basic for Excel, MS Office, ERP systems (Oracle, AX or similar).
- Good knowledge of reliability standards (MIL, IEC, etc.).
- Familiar with environmental management requirements.
- Preferably completed further training courses (DGQ, DQS, TÜV or similar) in quality and environmental management systems such as APQP, FMEA, 8D method, internal auditor, problem solving.
Competencies
- Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken, are essential.
- Basic understanding of quality philosophies, principles, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, interpersonal relationships, professional ethics, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
- Teamwork and strong communication skills across all hierarchical levels, as well as matrix experience.
