What To Expect

Tesla is accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg represents a pivotal milestone in Tesla’s European expansion, driving sustainable energy innovation at unprecedented scale.

As Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead transformative initiatives in battery material handling and dry mixing, combining deep technical mastery with strategic decision‑making to ensure operational excellence. Your work will directly impact Tesla’s global production goals and set benchmarks for next‑generation manufacturing systems. The most important pillars for this are our employees; their passion, motivation and engagement ensure that we achieve our goals.

We are looking for you to join our amazing team and build Tesla future together.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead strategic large‑scale projects for the design, commissioning, and ramp‑up of complex powder handling and dry mixing manufacturing equipment, ensuring alignment with Tesla’s sustainability and efficiency targets.
  • Drive cross‑functional collaboration as the technical authority for equipment and process optimisation, bridging Engineering, Production, EHS, and QA teams to deliver safe, high‑quality systems.
  • Develop innovative solution patterns for powder handling and transport by integrating advanced methodologies and adapting them to new challenges.
  • Coordinate new equipment package requirements, approve design drawings, and track supplier work implementation/quality on site.
  • Optimise uptime and cycle time through data‑driven automation debugging (PLC/HMI/SCADA) and predictive maintenance frameworks.
  • Ensure proper as‑built documentation and develop training materials/maintenance routines and related documentation for equipment.
  • Establish global best practices for ergonomic and safety improvements, exceeding regulatory standards (ATEX, CE) and influencing industry benchmarks. Identify equipment critical spare parts and ensure sufficient coverage to prevent extended downtime.
  • Validate supplier technologies and drive equipment buy‑offs for cutting‑edge solutions in cathode/anode powder processing.
  • Provide hands‑on support to the maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtime situations when required.
  • Design scalable documentation frameworks for training, maintenance and spare parts management, ensuring long‑term operational resilience.

What You’ll Bring

  • Advanced degree (Master’s/Diploma) in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or related field and 5+ years of experience in high‑volume manufacturing (automotive/battery/chemical/pharma) in cell manufacturing processes, semiconductors or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in scaling novel mixing/batch processes under stringent safety regulations (ATEX, CE) and managing risks in continuous production systems.
  • Strong engineering foundations with good electrical knowledge. Aptitude to learn.
  • Strategic project management skills, including budget oversight, timeline execution, and cross‑departmental coordination for Gigafactory‑scale initiatives.
  • Structured thinking and problem‑solving abilities with demonstrated leadership in resolving systemic equipment failures, reducing downtime (MTBF/MTTR improvements) and implementing predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Ability to evolve solution patterns by combining interdisciplinary methods (e.g., fluid dynamics, automation, and materials science) for novel challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience ramping equipment into manufacturing – powder handling systems, electrical design, automation hardware troubleshooting, input/output checks (IOs).
  • P&IDs/electrical drawing review and safety risk assessment participation – capability required. FMEA experience is a plus.
  • Powder handling system, electrical safety, automation or ATEX knowledge is a plus.
  • Fluency in English required; German is a plus.
