Join our dynamic team at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg as a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Stamping Dies, where you'll immerse yourself in processing vehicle stamping dies for blanking, tandem, and transfer lines, plan innovative new die sets and modifications to existing ones, and guide the full buy-off process as an essential part of the Manufacturing Engineering Team Stamping, all while driving the excitement of building the future of electric vehicles in a collaborative and inclusive environment that values your expertise and fresh ideas
What You'll Do
Execute projects with sharp focus on cost, quality, and timing, while embracing a collaborative team spirit with colleagues and partner organizations, always prioritizing environmental, health, safety, compliance, and security standardsEvaluate feasibility for Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), calculate time and cost impacts for in-house and vendor-driven changes with cross-functional teams, build a catalog of standard die spare parts, and join change control meetings to prioritize Model Y ECOs and modifications based on quality gains, cost savings, and key lessons learnedGuide suppliers through 3D die design updates to incorporate Engineering Change Orders, and collaborate with the engineering team on Die Modification Requests (DMRs) to enhance stamped panel quality, boosting fit in BIW and overall body precisionDive into reports on die downtime and part quality to craft smart strategies for zero interruptions, shorter Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and superior part outcomesShape efficiency standards for ME Tool & Die systems, spotting opportunities and rolling out impactful improvements to keep operations smooth and innovativeLead the technical side of die design, vendor buyoffs, and home line trials for new models, while skillfully interpreting AUTOFORM simulations to ensure top performancePrepare and lead reviews of vendor die designs, patterns, cast models, and checking fixtures to cleverly sidestep potential production hurdles, and capture valuable lessons learned for fueling success in upcoming ventures
What You'll Bring
Bring a Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience backed by evidence of exceptional abilityDemonstrate hands-on experience collaborating across multiple groups of professionals and in automotive stamping or die manufacturingStay solidly organized with meticulous attention to detail, ready to tackle challenges with precisionApply structured problem-solving methodologies to turn obstacles into opportunitiesThrive under time pressure while working seamlessly alongside others in fast-paced settingsMaster essential tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio or Project, Jira, and Confluence, with exemplary verbal and written communication skillsBe fluent in German and/or EnglishExperience in CNC programming, surface reverse engineering, CAD software such as CATIA V5, large die design, AUTOFORM R12 or higher for process setup and compensation, handling dies for world-class appearance in production, managing multiple projects with smart prioritization considering team resources, and embracing occasional travel including international adventures
