For our Ingolstadt location, we are seeking a Master’s student.

Thesis topic:

Development and verification of a simplified approach to FE analysis and optimisation of trim components in full-vehicle acoustics

Trims, damping materials, and seats — also referred to as poro‑elastic materials (PEM) — are very complex and computationally demanding to analyze due to their intricate structure, low stiffness, and porosity (involving air). The master’s thesis aims to investigate the possibility of simplified representations of various PEM components, for example by modeling them as 2D impedance elements (CAABSF), and to assess the validity of these simplifications or identify alternative modeling approaches. The work will be carried out using MSC.Nastran software.

Your profil:

  • Field of study: Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computational Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Initial practical experience in finite element analysis (FEA) would be desirable.
  • Experience with Python programming is also considered advantageous.
  • Applicants should demonstrate strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, as well as a sound understanding of structural mechanics.
