Responsibilities

• Develop a prototype Industrial Virtual Switch (IvS) for virtual PLC deployments
• Implement support for industrial automation and safety protocols (e.g., PROFIsafe)
• Conduct extensive benchmarking against state‑of‑the‑art cloud switches
• Identify and optimize performance bottlenecks for latency and jitter reduction
• Ensure guaranteed throughput for industrial applications
• Deploy and test the prototype in Siemens' Industrial Edge platform
• Contribute to the evolution of industrial automation through IT/OT convergence

Qualifications

• Education
  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Experience & Skills
  • Strong Linux knowledge and system‑level programming
  • Advanced networking expertise
  • Proficient programming skills in C
  • Understanding of industrial automation principles
  • Experience with DPDK is a plus
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies
