About the Role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Aero-Structures) to design and develop the airframe of advanced UAV platforms. You will contribute to shaping both the external geometry and internal structure of the aircraft, ensuring optimal performance, strength, and manufacturability. This role provides the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge autonomous aviation platforms in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aerodynamic & Loft Design: Contribute to aerodynamic shapes, outer mold line (OML), and loft definition of the airframe and lifting surfaces.
  • Structural Design: Design airframe structures including fuselage, wings, control surfaces, and supporting elements, ensuring efficient load paths and weight optimisation.
  • Loads & Stress Analysis: Support definition of load cases and perform stress assessments using hand calculations and/or FEM to ensure structural integrity.
  • CAD & Drawings: Develop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings under proper configuration control.
  • Manufacturing Support: Interface with production for prototyping and serial manufacturing to ensure producibility and robustness of designs.
  • Verification Support: Assist with structural testing, prototype evaluation, and investigation of design issues.
  • Integration Design: Design brackets, mounts, and structural interfaces for integration of onboard systems such as powertrain, batteries, avionics, and payloads.
  • System Coordination: Collaborate with avionics, powertrain, payload, and systems teams to ensure coherent integration within the airframe.

Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years’ experience in aircraft or UAV aerostructures, including airframe design and integration.
  • Understanding of aerodynamic principles and impact on loft and airframe design.
  • Experience in structural design, load paths, and stress analysis (hand calculations and/or FEM).
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and generation of engineering drawings under configuration control.
  • Experience designing structural solutions considering interfaces with multiple onboard systems.
  • Familiarity with composite and/or metallic airframe structures.
  • Hands‑on experience with drones/UAV design is advantageous.
