Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview
My is client seeking an experienced Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer to join an ongoing machinery development project. The role involves end-to-end design responsibility, from defining requirements and creating functional designs to prototyping, testing, and preparing production-ready documentation. This is a hands-on position suited to an engineer with deep CAD expertise and a proven track record in industrial machinery design.

Role Details

• Role - Mechanical Design Engineer
• Duration - 8-12 months
• Industry - Machinery Manufacturing
• Rate - Negotiable Per/Hour in €
• Location - Hybrid Role

Key Responsibilities

• Define mechanical design requirements within the product development process
• Functional and production-oriented design of machinery components and assemblies
• Prototype construction, testing, and implementation of design changes
• 3D CAD modelling and standard-compliant creation of detailed production drawings
• Preparation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOM)
• Continuous data maintenance of existing machinery series, e.g., by integrating cost-optimised components and assemblies
• Collaboration with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure feasibility and quality

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design (preferably for industrial machinery, automation, or equipment)
• Proficient in SolidWorks / Inventor / Siemens NX / CATIA / Creo

Ideal Candidate

• Ideally Fluent in German and English.
