Mechanical Project Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end delivery of mechanical packages, including HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH units, ventilation, plumbing, and associated plant/equipment.
• Coordinate design development with engineering consultants to ensure compliance with project requirements, local codes, and client specifications.
• Oversee mechanical subcontractors during installation, testing, commissioning, and handover phases.
• Review design drawings, method statements, risk assessments, and technical submittals.
• Ensure BIM and coordination models are accurate and up to date.
• Enforce health & safety standards across all mechanical works in accordance with German regulations (DGUV, DIN standards, local building codes).
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits of mechanical installations.
• Ensure all mechanical systems meet data‑centre‑specific operational and redundancy requirements (N+1, N+2, Tier III/IV design considerations).
• Develop and maintain mechanical works schedules aligned with overall project timelines.
• Track progress against programme milestones and report deviations.
• Manage mechanical package budgets, including procurement, subcontractor claims, and change orders.
• Support value‑engineering efforts without compromising reliability or performance.
• Liaise with project managers, electrical package managers, design teams, and client representatives.
• Work closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of mechanical equipment.
• Lead coordination meetings and produce weekly progress reports.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience managing mechanical packages on large construction projects.
• Proven experience in mission‑critical environments (data centres preferred).
• Strong understanding of HVAC, chilled water systems, and mechanical plant infrastructure.
• Excellent knowledge of construction processes, codes, and German safety regulations.
