Co-Creating Digital Platforms with Ambitious Teams → that Users Love, Ops desperately Need & Stakeholders Trust | Founder @ Berlin Bytes
We are Berlin Bytes. As a creative software development and consulting agency, we get to the root of digital challenges and turn insight into long-term value. We help clients design, deliver, and scale digital products that make a difference — fast, secure, and outcome-driven.
Now, we are seeking an experienced Workflow & Automation Engineer (Consultant) to join our Team. You will blend technical depth with consulting skills to identify, design, and implement streamlined workflows and automations that drive measurable impact for our clients and internal teams.
What you will be doing
Discover and map processes:
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand current-state processes, inefficiencies, and constraints.
- Run discovery sessions and process-mapping workshops to define as-is/to-be flows and baseline metrics.
- Translate business requirements into actionable solution designs with clear success criteria.
- Select the right tools and platforms (e.g., n8n or similar low-code) and determine when to extend with more custom software solutions (e.g., Python/TypeScript).
- Define non-functional requirements (security, privacy, reliability, scalability, observability).
Build, integrate, and deliver:
- Produce technical specifications, process diagrams, user stories, and implementation plans for smooth delivery.
- Implement and test automations, integrations, and connectors (APIs/REST/GraphQL, webhooks, OAuth2/JWT, databases, queues).
- Lead proofs-of-concept and pilots; evolve successful pilots into production-grade solutions with CI/CD and version control.
- Ensure robust operations: retries, error handling, monitoring, and documentation.
Enable adoption and continuous improvement:
- Plan and support change management; deliver training and handovers.
- Track performance against KPIs; iterate based on data; contribute reusable components and best practices to our internal library.
- Evaluate opportunities to responsibly integrate LLMs and AI where they add demonstrable value.
What you bring
Must-Have’s
- 3+ years in technology consulting or similar role focused on workflow automation and process optimisation.
- Strong interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, fostering trust, guiding and training them through the automation process.
- Empathy for organisational impact, ensuring successful adoption and alignment with stakeholder needs.
- 2+ years hands-on software engineering building integrations in TypeScript or Python.
- Hands-on expertise with low-code orchestration platforms (n8n strongly preferred; experience with similar tools is a plus).
- Solid API integration skills, authentication, and working with JSON/webhooks.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Git, CI/CD, containers such as Docker) and major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Ability to produce high-quality technical specifications, process flows, and implementation plans.
- Knowledge of security and compliance (GDPR, data minimisation, access controls, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills in German and English (business-fluent); able to explain complex topics to non-technical audiences.
Nice-to-Have’s
- Practical experience integrating LLMs and AI into workflows, including prompt design and guardrails.
- Observability and reliability practices (logging, monitoring, alerting, OpenTelemetry/Prometheus/Grafana).
- Infrastructure and platform familiarity (IaC such as Terraform, Kubernetes/Helm) for scalable automation deployments.
- Background managing full project lifecycles, including scoping, estimation, risk management, and stakeholder reporting.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your automation expertise to help our clients and internal teams achieve operational excellence and sustained innovation.
