MS/PhD Student Intern (Non-thesis)on Agent Based Systems for clinical trials

Your key responsibilities are

  • Developing language‑based agents for simulating clinical trial workflows
  • Integrating machine learning models, including large language models, into simulation frameworks
  • Analyze agent outputs and interactions to refine models and improve decision‑making
  • Collaborating with clinical and technical teams to refine system design
  • Documenting methods and findings for internal use or potential publication

Your key responsibilities are

  • Access and work on the HUS Acamedic platform;
  • Perform statistical analysis on different modalities: omics, questionnaire and other types of biological measurements;
  • Apply NEC’s proprietary algorithm to develop a predictive model for recovery of Long Covid patients, using multimodal information;
  • Implement an Explainability layer for interpreting the results and increase adoption by clinical users;
  • Collaborating with clinical and technical teams in the consortium to validate the findings.

Required skills and experience

  • Proficient in Python
  • Understanding of LLMs and their applications
  • Experience in building multi‑agent AI systems and orchestration frameworks
  • Experience in LLM frameworks such as LangGraph, MCP, etc.
  • Experience in building LLM‑powered agents using OpenAI APIs (e.g., GPT‑4), Gemini, Llama, etc.
  • Interest in clinical trials, healthcare, or life sciences
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams

Preferred/optional skills and experience

  • Python ecosystems such as FastAPI, Streamlit
  • Familiarity with modelling, simulation, or data analysis techniques in complex systems
  • Know‑how in responsible AI and explainable practices and tools (fairness metrics, AI testing frameworks, LIME, SHAP etc)
  • Early hands‑on experience with LLM agent‑based systems
  • Work in a professional industrial environment
  • Opportunity to publish in conferences and journals
