Job description Senior Transmission Network Engineer (WDM / SDH / ASON / IP)

We are looking for a Senior Transmission Network Engineer to play a key role in planning, deploying, and optimising high-performance transport networks for major telecom clients. You will work on large-scale transmission infrastructure projects, supporting both operational continuity and strategic network evolution across multiple technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute tasks across transmission engineering, network planning, deployment, and operations
• Design and implement HLD and LLD (High-Level and Low-Level Designs), system architecture, and documentation
• Perform configuration, monitoring, and fault resolution on various transmission systems (e.g., WDM, SDH, Ethernet, ASON)
• Coordinate cross-functional project activities and manage stakeholder communication, including customer escalations
• Drive the renewal and upgrade of network infrastructures, ensuring scalability and availability
• Develop technical specifications and implementation guidelines aligned with industry best practices
• Contribute to the creation of innovative, high-performance transmission solutions

Key Requirement

• Degree in Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• Proven hands-on experience in optical and packet-based transmission technologies, including DWDM, SDH, Ethernet, ASON
• Familiarity with transmission management systems (e.g., U2000, OneControl, NetAct)
• Experience in fiber optic network environments (e.g., FTTH, FTTB) and related telecom infrastructures
• Solid understanding of IP networking concepts (IPv4, IPv6, MPLS) is a strong advantage
• Excellent communication skills in German and English
• Willingness to travel within Germany based on project needs
