We are currently recruiting an experienced freelance Ontology Engineer for a long‑term project within the chemical‑pharmaceutical R&D domain. This role offers the opportunity to work onsite in Berlin or Leverkusen, with a flexible hybrid model available for suitable candidates.

• Position: Ontology Engineer (Freelance)
• Work Model: Office‑based 2–3 days per week (hybrid / work‑from‑home flexibility negotiable)
• Experience Level: 6–8+ years
• Language: German speaking mandatory

Technical Skills

Strong hands‑on experience with:

• RDF / OWL frameworks
• GraphQL
• Python
• Solid domain experience in pharmaceutical & chemical R&D ontologies, specifically:
• Ontologies describing solubility and polymorphic forms
• Ontologies focused on stability of chemical substances
• Ontology modelling for Technical Registration Documents (TRDs), including their structure, classes, and properties
• Proven background working with R&D or pharmaceutical ontologies
• Fluent German language skills (spoken and written)
• Ability to work onsite 2–3 days per week (minimum; hybrid arrangement negotiable depending on profile fit)
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work independently within complex domain environments
