GenAIDE (Generative AI for Industrial Design Engineering) is a Marie‑Skłodowska Curie Doctoral Network (DN) funded by the European Union with the objective to research and develop collaborative AI systems that partner with engineers for next generation industrial engineering design. In the network, 14 Doctoral Candidates will carry out research at 16 leading academic and industrial partners, beneficiaries include Honda Research Institute Europe GmbH, University of Leiden, Julius‑Maximilians‑University Würzburg, Altair Engineering GmbH (now part of Siemens Digital Software Industries), University of Jyväskylä, The University of Manchester, and KONE Oyj. The candidates will have the opportunity to visit various partners in the network. At Altair we are looking for a research scientists in the GenAIDE project.

GenAIDE is not just a PhD programme, it’s a complete, multi‑sector doctoral network that equips you with cutting‑edge technical depth and the leadership, entrepreneurial and ethical toolkit to shape the next generation of human‑AI design teams.

The goal of this research is a visionary AI based engineering companion based on ground‑breaking user‑interaction built on the concepts of LLMs. This conveniently guides through mega‑design spaces consisting of simulation and AI‑predicted engineering results and geometries, while offering design optimisation and exploration methods to aid decision making for engineers.

What You Will Do:

• Develop methods to interact with complex engineering design spaces using concepts based on large language models.
• Reflect design‑space exploration of multi‑fidelity accuracy to communicate concepts of prediction accuracy for engineering design decision making.
• Implement your research results into existing engineering processes based on industrial software.

What You Will Need:

• Excellent MSc. degree in Computer Science, Natural Sciences or Engineering.
• Strong motivation to conduct research in artificial intelligence in engineering.
• Solid background in machine learning and/or evolutionary optimization; strong programming skills (Python/C++).
• Proven interest in generative models, XAI, optimization or CAD is a plus.
• High intercultural competence and interest in working in international multi‑sector environment and teams.
• Proficient in the English.
• MSCA eligibility: candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Germany for more than 12 months in the 36 months before recruitment and must not yet hold a PhD.
