PhD Student (f/m/d)for High photon energy HED experiments - 29,25 hours/week

Overview

For our HED group we are looking for a

Responsibilities

• Participating in R&D studies of experimental setup for combined PDF and XES at high photon energy
• Study Fe-bearing samples at extreme conditions using X‑ray spectroscopy and X‑ray diffraction techniques
• Participation in developing dynamic compression experiments at the HED Science Instrument at European XFEL, including shock diagnostics (SOP and VISAR)
• Preparation of PhD thesis and participation in the PhD program of European XFEL

Qualifications

• University/Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences (Mineralogy/Geochemistry) or equivalent qualification Experience with synchrotron radiation experiments, X‑ray diffraction/spectroscopy is beneficial
• Hands‑on experience in experimental setup design/installation/commissioning
• Interest in high‑pressure experiments (diamond anvil cells or dynamic compression)
• Eligible to enroll in the PhD program at the TU Dortmund University
• Good communication skills and ability to work in an international and multi‑disciplinary team
• Good knowledge of English
