Overview

Huawei is a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider. Huawei's Jena Research Center – Automotive Optics Team is seeking a PhD Student in Flat Optics Applications Research.

Responsibilities

Perform literature analysis and technical insight to identify high potential applications of flat optics in optical imaging and display.
Explore new structure, new coating, or AI-assisted shape optimization, and address diffraction efficiency and dispersion effects of meta-surfaces.
Fabricate flat optics devices and develop proofs of concept according to project requirements to illustrate feasibility and performance.
Attend top-tier academic conferences and exhibitions to identify academic and industry progress and help identify future trends and directions for flat optics.

Your areas of expertise

Master in optics or related disciplines, with strong theoretical knowledge in diffractive and/or physical optics and/or micro-nano optics.
Practical experience in design and fabrication of micro-nano optical devices; proficiency with optical design and simulation software (e.g., COMSOL, FDTD, GSolver). Experience in practical application for flat optical devices is a plus.
Passionate about innovations and technology in flat optics and strong willingness to promote flat optics to practical applications.
Fluent in English (written and oral) and able to collaborate in a multicultural team.
