Leibniz Institute for Food Systems Biology at the Technical University of Munich ( ), a legal foundation under civil law based in Freising, is a prominent member of the Leibniz Association. The research group Molecular Modeling / Section III is looking for a committed PhD Student to start on 15/01/2026. The position is part‑time (TV‑L 13, 65 %) and initially limited to 3 years.
Advancements in structural biology and AI‑guided protein structure design are providing new insights into the structures of receptors responsible for food taste and odor perception and food‑derived proteins. The project aims to make use of the structural information for structure‑based ligand design projects in order to develop prediction methods to identify new food ingredients and flavor modulators.
The ideal applicant has a strong background in bioinformatics or computational chemistry, as well as data analysis and solid English‑language skills. Experience with programming is highly recommended. Above‑average interest in the topic, we consider self‑motivation and the ability to face new professional challenges as self‑evident prerequisites. The ability to work independently, outstanding team skills and organizational aptitude round‑out the ideal profile.
